The ban comes after Uefa opened disciplinary proceedings following a doping violation – a further suspension may follow the investigation.

Sakho tested positive for a fat-burning substance after the side’s Europa League tie with Manchester United last month.

The France international has decided against challenging the results of the test, and could receive another ban of up to two years.
